Creative Heart | Lets Sleep Under The Stars
Today I am sharing a behind-the-scenes look at the making of one of my most favorite newborn images of last year. This family really loves being outdoors, especially camping. So I came up with this idea to create a newborn sized tent, loosely based on a vintage boy scout canvas tent design. Actually I should back up, because the idea first popped into my head when I saw this print “Let’s Sleep Under the Stars” by the amazing artist Katie Daisy. So with the tent and sleeping under the stars in mind, I brainstormed the feel and look I wanted this scene to have: light, rustic, tone on tone, wood + canvas, natural textures, and hanging stars. I made the tent with fallen branches my daughter helped collect, and some simple cotton fabric. The stars were made out of gold glitter paper from the scrapbook section at my local craft store, a couple different sized star shaped hand punches, double stick tape and jute twine.
