Native American Baby Styled Newborn Session | Muckleshoot Seattle Puyallup Tacoma Newborn Photographer
As a Tacoma newborn photographer, it is always an honor to capture each and every one of my tiny subjects. However, this session felt like such an extra special honor I just had to share. When mom contacted me during her third trimester she explained about their Native American heritage and how important it was to incorporate into their newborn session at my Sumner studio. I was so inspired and happy to create something magical just for them. Every single image I capture was so full of meaning and you can just feel the LOVE that this family has for their traditions and this beautiful baby girl. In fact, I think I even teared up a bit when they arrived and dad shared the beautiful leather hand-beaded dress with matching moccasins that he had stayed up late making just for Kisa after she was born. Take a look at these images we created and read more about the meaning and heart put into them below.
Their family regularly attends pow wows around the state to participate in dance competitions. Their beautiful regalia was a sight to behold in my Tacoma newborn studio. Too bad these pictures don’t have sound, or you could hear the magical tinkle of big sister’s jingle dress.
I have never seen a more proud dad than Kisa’s! He gave her this gorgeous Pendleton blanket as a gift the day she was born. (Headband by GoodnightMoon Props)
Baby girl was so comfortable in her dad’s arms and he snuggled right in to her without me even asking.
This is the amazing handmade leather dress with beading and matching leather moccasins – ALL made by dad after his baby girl arrived! Words cannot explain how special this was. He helped dress her and tie the tiny leather strings of her moccasins before I gently posed her on this soft Luneberry wool flokati fur.
Mom wanted to incorporate nature into her session as well as some beautiful pink and I knew this plant in my studio would be just perfect. I always enjoy incorporating natural elements, like plants and flowers, into my Tacoma newborn sessions. I love how the baby the soft pink, green leaves, natural fur and wooden planks all come together to enhance the picture, with Kisa at the center. It looks so cozy!
This amazing little baby wing dress is another special handmade item this native american family brought to celebrate their heritage at their newborn session. It was made by an aunt after she was born and fit her perfectly. The color was so beautiful on her.
Just so much love in this family, it fills my heart!
This baby cradle board was also a handmade treasure. Once Kisa was placed inside she was so comfortable and relaxed – she even gave us a smile!!
It was such an incredible honor to create these image. I know they will bring a smile to this family’s faces for years and years to come.
